'Maxies' Photo Frame

His photo frame is a precious, dusty memory.
Long, soft barks escaping from the frame
I can feel his gentle fur brush against my cheek
plating with Max all the time was favourite pastime of mine.
Mine and my dad's first dog,
throwing the ball and playing fetch.
A fire burning through the night is what it smells like.
When I was upset, he was there.
When he was gone, I wish I had more time
with him, with his soft fur and his warm heart
emotional and impossible it is to keep away,
but holding on to that special day.
Soon, after, now and then it stays in my heart forever but then...
children and children playing in the trees
dancing, dancing round the fire,
the crispy marshmallows burning in the distance.
A chirping bird sings a humble song
splashing, splashing, along day at the beach.
A photoframe will never fix it-
At the end of the day when the sun goes down,
though he's long gone, he's still in my heart.
