I can see the grass swaying in the wind,

I can hear the birds chirping

Reminding me of home,

I can feel the sand between my toes,

Suddenly I see,

Plastic in the ocean,

The graceful birds have stopped singing,

The mournful grass is dead,

The golden sand is disappearing

Reminding me of home

Global warming and littering

Assassinating the urban grass,

Litter slaying the fish and our marine life.

What happened to our beautiful Earth,

I whisper, “What happened?”

Now, sorrowful memories of home.
