As I study each intricate bijou
Suspended by thin sparkling clasps
From the sleek silver halo on my wrist,
It is like a trip down memory lane.

Back to that sunny holiday, that exotic place
Family expeditions, globetrotting grandparents,
This timeline of memories, flashing before my eyes.
As a mere toddler, I couldn’t understand
the sentimental value it would have one day.

The charms dance like puppets
On silver chains instead of string.
Twinkling and Tinkling
Like a delicate wind chime.

Flashbacks to Disneyland, Kangaroos,
The beach, swimming with fish and dolphins,
Fourth birthday, sixth birthday,
Rides in firetrucks.
My entire childhood
A halo on my wrist.
