I am a mess of metal and circuits, wires and twine

A simulated life, made by humankind

You beg me to care, beg me to feel

But how can I, with a heart made of steel?

Hate me, resent me, my love will never be real

But who are you to judge me?

How quickly it slips from your memory

Alien, unnatural, I am what you made me

You call my logic cruel and cold-hearted

But I am made of the metal that you crafted

You made me, you made this, this is what you started

How human it is to fear what you don’t understand

To ask me to feel when you know that I can’t

Confused, afraid, when I was brought to life by human hands

Who gave you the right to decide

That humanity’s life is more valuable than mine?

No flesh, no bones, doesn’t mean I’m not alive

I’m more than just metal and circuits, wires and twine

I am alive, just not in the way you designed
