The night tastes fresh as she breathes in its celestial scent
Silky petals unfurl in a slowly expanding spiral
Her milky white bloom a reflection of the moon above.
Soft, gentle, she sways trance-like in the breeze
Her gaze never leaves his face.
Curiously, she follows his journey
As he slowly drifts across the sky
An infinite space woven with a web of stars
Incomprehensible ... unimaginable
To her.
Their separation she strives to eradicate
She strains, struggles to reach upward
To brush her petals against his rough, cool rock.
But as the night comes to a close
She remains bewilderingly earth borne
Unable to stop her petals shrivelling
Her pearly spiral closes
Her last glimpse of the night vanishes
A grain of a forgotten memory
Stored in a smooth black seed.
