Mountain Pygmy Possum

Thought to be a fossil for hundreds of years,

The Mountain Pygmy Possum finally appears. 

When it gets cold, they all go to sleep,

There’s only 2000 left, which sadly isn't a heap.

Owls, Dingoes, Quolls and Snakes,

We must save the possums before their world breaks.

The Mountain Pygmy Possums eat berries and seeds,

But you don't see them climbing in any trees.

They only appear in alpine and subalpine,

We need to save this species because it's not fine.

These cute little animals are not going to live,

We need more Possums and a heap more food to give.

When Mountain Pygmy Possums get defensive and scared,

Their fur gets all barbed and flared.

They hiss and they sneeze like an angry snake, 

Unless you are friendly and give them some cheese!

There isn't much time because they only live for five years,

Us humans need to switch on our brains and kick them into gear.

To a better future for us and for nature,

We must provide this whole world with an eco-friendly future.
