My Crystal Dragon

It dangles in my warm bedroom
Off the white trophy shelf
Its name is Crystal Dragon
Bluish silver and feels very rough
With light blue crystals
Fits into the palm of my hand
Smells disgusting like rusty metal
Sounds peaceful like it has never been disturbed
Calm like my Mum
Brave like my Grandpa
My Aunty gave me this object
From her tiny home town
I’ve had it since I was six months old
It’s very special to me because I got it in hard times
The dragon keeps me safe and away from danger
Reminds me of the time when I was sick
I look at it in tough times
I would be devastated if anything happened to it
I will keep it forever, never letting it go,
Dangling in my bedroom, protecting me from harm
