My Emerald

There it is
Perfect yet imperfect at the same time
The rigid edges, sharp corners
They give it all the more natural beauty
Many may say it's uninteresting
They may never see the full picture
The Muscovite encases the gem
Like a glimmering black coat
In the epicenter of this explosion of colour
A small crystal is embedded in the stone
It sticks out like a colour frame
In a reel of black and white film
It's a Red Beryl
This object's imperfections
Show the true elegance that it withholds
As I see it sitting on my shelf
It stands out from all other items
It is my emerald
And to me it is something
More than a rock
