My Friend the Gum Tree

I know a lovely gum tree.
She is graceful, tall and sleek.
She grows outside my window
and she brightens up my week.

She waves to me each morning
when I’m leaving for the day
then waits for me with patience
as she’s always keen to play.

She tells me bedtime stories
with assistance from the breeze
and sings to me all evening
so I fall asleep with ease.

She helps the little insects
have a cosy place to live
and feeds the birds her nectar.
She has so much wealth to give!

I know a lovely gum tree.
She’s a special friend, it’s true.
I love her very deeply
and I hope she loves me too.
