My Koala

A gift of love,
Encased in delicate grey fur,
A suit of smooth silver armour,
Guarding precious memories,
Golden thread embeds itself into the koala’s chest,
Clearly stating two words,
Taronga Zoo,
Translucent black pearls look out into the vast world,
Eternal within my mind.
As my fingers brush its fur,
Irresistible softness surrounds my fingertips,
Flowing memories encircle and surround,
Lifting me high towards the heavens,
A tornado of remembrance,
A cyclone of love,
Of care,
Of family,
All squeezed into one little koala.
