My laptop has a pet mouse, he got too attached to it.
Whatever the mouse wants to do he tells the laptop to do it.
My laptop can keep secrets like my bank information.
When it gets hurt it explodes with exclamation.

My laptop lusts to lend a hand when I lag in spelling.
My laptop must make my mistakes massively magnificent.
My laptops lagged lately, unluckily I don’t prepare for luck-outs.
I weirdly went wacky because I have to live with it.

I stare at my laptop all day every day.
And you don’t know how many games we play.
Oh, haven’t you heard? My laptop has Microsoft Word.
And Google Earth has the eye of a bird.

Laptops are my friends.
Laptops are like my best friends.
They keep my secrets.

Laptops.
Electronic, bright.
Fast, slow, smart.
I’m constantly, contently looking where I’m typing.
Running.
Revision.

My poem is about my laptop, which I have at home. I wanted it to be a mix of all poems that we’ve learnt about in class. Such as a Haiku, Cinquain, Rhyme, Rhythm, Personification, Metaphor, Simile, Alliteration. These are all the types of poems in my poem.

Stanza one featured Rhyme, Rhythm and Personification.
Second, Alliteration, Personification and Rhyme.
Third, Personification and Rhyme.
Fourth, Metaphor, Simile and Haiku.
Fifth, Cinquain and Personification.

My poem adds personification to the mouse, the laptop itself and its features (screen etc.) and playfully compares human interactions and actions to a laptop capabilities.
And I managed to fit it in one page.

I picked this topic and thing because it somehow can reflect on my personality. I use a laptop all the time.
(Like most kids these days… pretty sad, huh.)

The hardest poem type to make was the Alliteration. The words in my mind either wouldn’t make sense or would confuse others because their inside jokes.

I was inspired to make this poem because this year, as soon as my teacher mentioned it I wasn’t too thrilled. But it was actually very fun to do all types of poems (most of them were nonsense poems!).

Thank you for reading my poem.
