My Little Lucky Shell

When I found you, you were washed up on the shore.
You were a real beauty!
Small enough to hold in the palm of my hand
With splotches of light and dark cream.
A spiral, though crooked, still perfect.
You’ve had plenty of lives of your own
Before me, yet you always ended up abandoned.
You seemed content, going with the flow of the waves.
In… Out… In… Out…
I found you on Orion's Beach in Vincentia.
You could have travelled around the world!
You have seen so much, maybe even the boats going to and from World War II!
Or, been a gift from a soldier to his hopeful daughter, overjoyed to finally hear from her Dad.
You have been a warm comfortable home, to those who needed you most.
So when I worry, or when I’m down, I hold you close.
You are so exquisite and stunning, and you’re always so very loving.
Some think it’s luck, but I think it’s fate that you are mine.
I promise you with all my heart, I will let you shine.
My little lucky shell.
