The first time my eyes saw you,

You called me

Your leaves drape down like curtains, shielding me from the sun

Your roots and leaves hold so many memories

All of the games we’ve played, all the joy you bring

My portal to other worlds

Your roots dig into the ground like spikes

Where do they go?

Do they ever stop?

You are a home to many animals

A rainbow in your old leaves

You are the best to climb

So many natural footholds and hand grips

Naturally carved seats I could stay in for hours

As life goes on you never age

A playing tree for generations

Your soothing energy makes sadness bearable,

Like someone comforting me

You are my sign of hope in a broken world

My Tree
