Where the bluebirds call,

And the sunbeams fall,

And the daisies lure,

The soul to be pure.

And seems to one in drowsiness,

Half lost,

The grasshoppers among the grassy hills.

Nature's first green and gold

Her hardest hue to hold.

Her early leaves a flower.

But only so an hour

Then leaf subsides to leaf

So, Eden sank to grief.

So, dawn goes down today.

Nothing gold can stay.

When all at once I saw a crowd

A host, golden daffodils

Beside the lake

Beneath the trees

Fluttering and dancing in the breeze
