Nature's theatre

The whole bush raises its head, mesmerised by the limitless space that is smooth like polished glass.
Silently the actors prepare themselves off-stage.
An audience of a thousand shimmering trees erupt in resounding applause,
as a white bellied sea eagle swoops in slow motion across the bright blue stage, freshly painted by dawn.
Stark white and glowing, a pelican confidently glides after the eagle, pulled by a welcome breeze.
A swirling flock of cockatoos join the show,
and the performers silently swell and transform against the sapphire stage.
Abruptly, an enormous grey monster billows in from the side, bringing chaos to the cockatoos,
Actors collide and disperse as the monster builds in size and smothers the theatre’s only light.
The audience is cast in foreboding shadow, their clapping grows frenzied, a crescendo of hi-hats,
They sway from the roots as the temperature drops and the air grows thick and damp,
Now silenced by the ear splitting CRACK of thunder.
