Gnarled twigs contrast smooth ashen timber
Glassy panes stare, unblinking,
Hazel turned slate hide
Smothered by a thin dust blanket.
Obsidian eyes, dim glow
Staring from the doorway opposite mine,
I see neglect.
Heart pining, the
Torture of past memories.
Stuffed deer, smiling, on my bed
Joy.
Tears, then saying goodbye forever.
Acceptance.
Foreign hands grasping delicate limbs.
Regret.
Sitting on the bed,
Smothered by a thin dust blanket.
Obsidian eyes, dim glow,
Staring from the doorway opposite mine,
I see neglect.
