Notamacropus greyi. The toolache wallaby.
Commonly lived in the bushy grassland, flourished with vegetation
The screams of magpies and coos of crested pigeons echoed on distances far away
Yet it was opened up, excavated and cleared out.
The numbers begin declining.
Notamacropus greyi. The toolache wallaby.
Slim, graceful and elegant,
With a pale, ashy-brown and a soft pelt
And an underdeveloped vocal cord that simply growls and hisses to ward off predators,
Predators like hunters and poachers.
Notamacropus greyi. The toolache wallaby.
Renowned for their soft pelt
The smell of death coats the thickened air
Poachers, hunters, holding the pelt of the toolache wallaby,
Like a trophy to be exhibited.
The numbers are now reduced to zero. Null. Zilch. Gone.
