In the heart of the woodlands,

Lives a creature so rare,

With stripes on its back,

And a long pointed snout to spare.

Its name is the numbat,

A nocturnal little beast,

With a love for termites,

Its population is sadly on the decrease.

With only a thousand left,

This animal’s future is grim,

But let us focus our attention,

On the uniqueness it brings within.

Oh, little numbat,

With your bushy tail held high,

May your kind thrive and prosper,

Please Australia, do your bit to help them survive.
