Ode to Ocelot

babies that barely fit in both hands
ocelot kittens can already stand
light as a feather
chaotic as the weather
having little play-fights
Mama makes them alright
I'm an ocelot, and I can do a lot
brambly claws
raspy little roars
rough little furs
growly little purrs
hope-beacon eyes
stumbling after flies
I'm an ocelot, and I can do a lot
how can humans break your home?
I need you to survive
so much you do not know
I can see it in your eyes
coiled like a cougar, I'd protect you with my life
you're an ocelot, and you can do a lot
