One by One

Memories, memories, memories
One on top of another stacked in no order
Scrolled cylindrical papers worth a million
Held together loosely by a single rubber band
Date at the very top followed by the day
Careless writing about memories at the bottom.
“Score” I scream when the paper lands in
In the ice cold jar, waiting...waiting everyday
One by one it starts to fill up
Colours gleaming like a rainbow in a jar.
Candy-cane straw poking from the very top
Up and down, Up and down
Like a little teapot, handle on the side
Grasping your hand and not letting go.
Perfect cylinders, I think not
Worth more than anything, anything
Memories, memories, memories.
