Our eyes have opened

As the water flows past and the birds float by
The world continues on.
In one way or another we are changed.
A year or two later plants have flourished
And relationships have grown.
The world is a transformed place
And nature is once again its own.

When the sun sets
And the wind gushes by
The melody of a bird enters our minds,
Transfixing us on the realisation of nature.
We understand our mistakes.
Referring back to our ancestors, the land is not just a place.
The soil and sun and everything in between are our HOME.
We live here with pride.

Fly away virus, we have been connected once more.
Something that threatened us all, has dragged us outside
Intertwined but bringing us together but tearing us apart
Once again to be connected with nature
For a few hours we forget the real burden.
