Overpowered

Darkness envelops you
Clawing, groping, tugging
The black welcomes you into its midnight lair
Swallowing you
Whole.
You see your kingdom
Torn apart in one fell swoop
By the cruel, serrated claws
Of Humanity.
Ruined.
No-one hears your frantic call
Your voice is drowned out.
You plant a seedling of hope
Feebly trying to force its way out.
It is trod on, killed, crushed.
You can’t.
Can’t make your voice heard.
Can’t fight anymore.
You are Mother Nature
And you have been overpowered by Humanity.
