Pahutakawa Tree

Smiles all round,
We gather as one,
Creating memories and history,
Living them in the sun
Cancer is a beast,
It turns innocents into victims,
Destroying lives, families and dreams,
Picking at the seams
Memories will fade,
But this one will not
The christening of a child,
Is a memory not mild
I miss her like crazy,
But the pain and the hurt,
Has to be hidden
Saying goodbye, is like saying hello
To a new way of life
Not many people may know
But there is one thing I still see,
It’s the Pahutakawa tree.
