Perfection Set in Stone

A statue can be like a picture if made right.
It can capture a moment, emotion, light.
My statue wasn’t made right.
It shows two rabbits.
A beautiful mother and child.
A snowy doe and her white kit.
Whenever I see my statue
I’m flushed with a wave of jealousy
I’m envious of the crappy, two-dollar,
Porcelain, post office rabbit.
And all I know is why.
I want the maternal right that she has.
I want the undying love that she feels.
I want tight shackles and responsibility.
I want motherhood.
It makes no sense to be jealous of a statue.
But I am.
My statue wasn’t made right.
It was perfection set in stone.
