'Polly-Sue'

Your knee length dress in creamy white
With puffed sleeves and pale blue edging,
Your little green apron and tangled brown hair
You look like a baby bird fledging.
Floral patterns in blue, yellow and pink
A pretty white lace head band,
Your delicate face with extravagant eyelashes
With sweet blue eyes non-demanding.
I remember when we played dress ups,
Tea parties and doctors with friends;
It has been so long since I last spent time with you,
How quickly childhood ends.
My doll, Polly-Sue ended up in a corner,
Shoved away by the hurries of life;
How I miss you my dear Polly-Sue
I did not mean to cause you such strife.
