Possum Poem

In the soft moonlight,
Shrouded by shadows so bright,
A possum appears with such poise,
Its bushy tail is a playful toy.
Its big and bright rounded eyes,
Leap and climb with such surprise,
A creature of the night,
Moving without fear or fright.
Even in the day, it's an exciting sight,
Its soft grey fur and cute size are a delight.
Enjoying leaves and fruits so fine,
A little thief, but so benign.
We must cherish this little friend,
Protect its habitat until the very end,
For possums are a beauty to all who are their friend,
Their contributions to nature, we must defend.
If we don't protect our possum friend,
Population decline will continue to trend.
Our ecosystem benefits greatly from the contributions of possums,
Without them spreading pollen and seeds, our environment won’t blossom.
