Rainforest

A zephyr of sunlight trickled up to the dancing stream,
Where it met the stunning sight of the towering evergreen trees.
The saffron Weetjellan began to bloom,
As the time of the terror was coming too soon.
The diminutive birds chirp and twitter as they fly,
And sit in an ancient paperbark, reaching up for the aegean blue sky.
The frolicking kangaroos assemble as they see it spin,
The frolicking kangaroos observe as the shadowy mist rolls in.
That ghost - grey mist was the thing they’ve always dreaded,
But now they trembled with fear, knowing where it was headed.
They couldn’t let it imprison their greatest; they had to agree.
They wouldn’t let it seize their leader, The Great Gum Tree.
But before that thundering mist could get any nearer,
It became lightly transparent and frightfully clearer.
A mist that they would always find abhorrent,
Had finally disappeared, from that ever-changing rainforest.
