redleaf beach

The warmth of the sun shining down onto the sand
Clear, still blue water interrupted by the splashing of young children
I lay at the water's edge, sunkissed and tanned
Jumping in the frigid cool water leaves me cold-bitten
I walk along the sandbank, clutching handfuls of seashells
Picking out each different one here and there
The crisp salty beach air, one of the most memorable smells
Little waves crashing down, sending water into the air
As I heave myself up the everlasting stiff stairs, waiting for the top
I suddenly stop when I see the bright and shining icy pole sign
Racing up to the queue, first in the shop
I stand there excited, dripping water whilst standing in the line
Receiving my ice cream feels like a dream
I start to head back up towards the long steep stairs
I make it up to the top, huffing and puffing to the extreme
The melting ice cream slowly drips down my hand
Beneath my feet, the hot rocky concrete is burning away
Running fast, leaving sand tracks along the way
Clouds start to hover over, dark and grey
Hurrying back, finally home, what a fun day
