As they scurry along the forest floor,

All they want to do is explore.

But the only thing they can hear are the machines going roar,

We have no time to sit around, we have no time to ignore.

The numbat is going extinct and it's not a joke anymore,

There once were lots of them but that was before.

Before the world turned bad and we took away their habitat in places we can’t restore,

Their nests taken from them, that’s their home, they can’t stay there anymore.

As the numbat munches on its termites,

Once again all it can see now are the machine lights.

As it scurries up the trees to get to safety in the heights,

The numbat can never feel safe wherever it spends its nights.

As the big ones run fast and the little ones run slow,

They are trying to go to their tree hollow.

But the humans are not far behind, trying to follow,

So instead, they must burrow.

We need to protect the numbat from leaving whenever,

Everyone needs to work together.

Before the numbat disappears forever,

So, get your act together and protect our numbat better.
