Back and forth the waves roll by,
The restless water boisterous,
Crashing and churning against the slippery rocks.
I can almost feel the spray of the cold mist against my face,
Sprinkling my nose and eyelashes like a whispering winters haze.
I close my eyes and picture the waves
Deafening and colliding against the rocks.
The aroma of salt in the breeze fills my nostrils.
The bleak blue sky heading towards the shore.
Digging with my toes in the gritty golden sand was where I found it,
It was where I found my shell,
My escape,
I open my eyes and pull my sea shell away from my ear.
Its cool smooth surface sucking me away from my fantasy,
And back to reality.
