Secrets and Lies

There's something peaceful about the way the fresh night breeze moves the leaves with a wild swish
Something calming about the sparkling silver stars in the dark abyss. I run.
Opening my arms wide, imagining I could get carried away in the wind. Away with all my problems. Free
I fall to the ground. My smile as big as the earth I'm on
I lie there in the still silence, taking a minute to breathe.
I listen to the whispers of the trees, speaking silently to each other
I listen to the lies the orchids tell the daisies
I think about my lies….But none of that matters now
Free
The grass is running untamed. Careless.
Not taking orders from anyone but the wind herself, and her cool, harsh breath.
My hair follows suit as I rise. The cool crisp grass smooshy under my feet as I run
Free
The refreshing smell of eucalyptus. I long to be as tall as he is. Grey bark and all
With all his unique marks
The shining wattle is still glowing in the dark. Smelling as sweet as their loved ones. Unbreakable. Free
I think of my lies as well as the orchids
All the secrets I’ve told
Much like the trees, I’ve betrayed my loved ones. But right now it doesn’t matter.
I run away from the pain, into the wild. Free
