Deep purr rumbles in the night
Silently pads cross the floor
Whiskers tickle under my chin
Moist nose sniffs my arm,
She snuggles in the crook of my elbow

Mottled black and white
Yellow eyes shine bright
Enough to reflect happiness in my heart
Jingle, jangle of her charm
Worn and tarnished with love

The eyes that shone-closed
The fur that danced-silent
Gone before I could say good-bye
Gone to the world where I can't reach her
Never to feel her love again

No use to mourn; she is gone
Buried in the heart of our garden
Covered in earth where she used to roam
Now roamed by two of her kind
My saviours - the silver lining
