Sonnet 19

Freedom is running whenever you like,
Cleansing bad thoughts with the wind in your hair.
Freedom is long downhill rides on your bike,
Shaking off the day, inhaling crisp air.
Freedom is courage to speak your own voice.
Standing for those who are weaker than you.
Freedom is a pool brimming deep with choice,
A limitless life with a wide world view.
Freedom vanished! A thief’s shadow at night,
Captured, held hostage by COVID-19.
Vicious virus stole victims human rights.
Freedom vanquished with worldwide quarantine.
Our island protects us, shields us a lot,
Yes, lucky we are, but free we are not.
