A silent smile;
bleeding company,
left on the empty tracks of despair,
which were once full of hope.

Memories and love confided in my still companion
laying with frayed edges,
torn threads,
each rip a sign of solitude.

Button eyes,
a window to a soulless body.
Her distress and neglect;
left unnoticed, an outsider lost in a crowd.

For years and years
she was an abandoned railroad,
staring at the silence of tracks which led her to comfort,
alone; in space, as a burning asteroid, dashing by.

But I’ll never forget her.
Our paths grow distant; never apart,
since she remains in my mind, soul and heart
for every step I take.
