The wind blows, drifting through the blue yonder
The gate falls, a wave of tourists tumbling down, waiting to climb the palace of stone
Trees surround you, whispering secrets in the breeze

Then, a delicious smell wafts around you, tempting you to eat
Munch o'clock has arrived and you enter a heaven of lunch
Rice, curry, cake. Too much to name. The crunch of the food makes an echo that never goes away

You step across soft, sandy ground that feels like a warm hug from your friend
Your feet sink into the sand, whirling you away to a world of relaxation

The ocean splashes, making a mellow song forever
Shells are dug up, hiding in the sand, away from the outside world
Crabs scuttle up the pointy rocks like babies crawling on the floor, then resting

Squawks of wonder come from a peacock, the bird of peace
Snakes rustle in trees, trees that reach for the sky
Trunks honk with delight, squirting water like a sprinkler

The nation welcomes you as you step out of the soaring white bird
This is paradise, each day with joy
This is Sri Lanka, nourishing you with every step you take.
