Standing To A Difference

You do not understand that you are different
You are led to think that there is normal
That there is a standard
That we must be the same
But learn to except that the blurred universe
I can see in you glassy eyes that you are not the same
Your emotion is leaking through you
As I touch your hand
It does not feel the same
Your appearance differs from mine
Why is that so
When you speak I hear your words
Words of a human
You speak in a way that I cannot wrap my head around
But you feel the way I do
And your sorrow is inflicted upon us all
The weight of the world tries to carry you
But it falters
We must learn to carry ourselves
Our dreams of hope too heavy
Our differences to great
But it is through emotion that we can understand each other
Leaning on each other's shoulders
Our differences bring us closer
We don't have to be the same
Because we are not
But our hearts all beat
And our eyes still shed tears
And we are all human
No matter what the outside shows
Your character's content is precious
Your colour of your skin shouldn't matter
We are all human
Our imperfections cascade across the earth
What we all have inside is a heart of remorse
We all do wrong but we learn to right it
But if we cant stand together for difference
Then we cannot stand at all
