Strength of the Nightcap Oak

Bark dark as a midnight pass
Shade is a blanket across the luscious green grass
Calming aroma flies through the breeze
In the distance are clear blue seas
A newly kindled flame pollutes the skies
Flames roll through as greenery dies
Hellish flame roars about
All the green is put to rout
The time of flame is nigh
After the flare
Nurture and care
Nature’s cruelty is all that's fair
Burnt bark a reminder to all
Of how the trees’ leaves came to fall
Even though it’s been burnt to cinder
It still stands strong through roughest winter
Time passes from days to years
The scars of fire leave all with fears
Birds and people know what came to pass
And now the green has returned to grass.
