Body reborn,
elated in the sense of imminent transportation
through time, through emotion.
Defying nature’s authority, throwing gravity aside.
Surging forward, past the graveyard of reef
where tombstones comprise snapped and broken boards.
Yet all is tranquil inside this colossal wall of water.
You are more than just a surfboard,
rather, my vessel, my carrier through the unknown.
Your grasp around my ankle grounds me
as I streak along the face of the wave,
crucified by the chill of the mid-morning air.
Then my feet stumble and I’m tossed mercilessly into the dark abyss below.
I become death’s customer,
Floating towards the luminous glow of light above,
Until I once again feel the comfort of your unyielding structure,
As you carry me away,
towards the horizon.
