The swamp is as flat as a mirror,

reflecting every speck of light.

A crooked tree in the middle hunches over thousands of fireflies,

each one buzzing with excitement,

disguised in the night splattered with blazing stars.

A shooting star streaks across the sky,

lighting up the ground around me like a dance floor,

the spotlight makes me want to leap off my toes,

and dance around in circles like a little girl.

It is the most peaceful I’ve felt in a very long time.
