Taeniurops meyeni – Bubble in the Garden

Fluttering across the seabed,
Swirling pale sand into eddies
beneath its smiling mouth,
a mottled bubble caresses bright coral
with undulating curiosity.
See deeply here, where the seagrass
waves its tentacles freely.
Admire the lolloping scalloped edges
fringed with ripples in the babble.
Taeniurops meyeni flows over the swish
of the anemone garden, where clownfish gape shy.
He looms circular and sun-dappled near the
nudibranch, neon with fluorescent panic, and
the giant clam, that slims the ruffles of its gentle pursed lips.
The bubble murmurs its rustle for crabs,
tilts sideways as a crevasse crags open below,
and coasts across his sunset island home.
Shaped like a full stop – declarative.
Exclamatory, even:
it wafts beneath. Whisk! Shush! Gone.
