That Indian Blanket,
The only barrier,
My only protection,
Occluding the frigid, frightening world.

That Indian Blanket,
Eternal Sorrow,
Perpetual despair,
Emotions that occur in its absence.

That Indian Blanket,
The reposing symbols,
Seized for eternity,
Perished from my warmth.

That Indian Blanket,
My great grandmother’s scent,
Interwoven in curled and coiled fabric,
Into longing memories.

That Indian Blanket,
The blending colours,
Pale and twisted in the sunlight,

Gone.
