The Ballerina in the Glass Box

She is placed on a shelf
frozen in time
so her life may as well be a rhyme.
She waits for the time to strike
at her little glass like box,
and then you will start to hear it crack then creak
almost as if it were to speak
and now she is finally free
free to dance, free to do whatever she wants
the floor is her stage she is her audience
she will give herself a show
so she elegantly floats to the floor
superior enough to get some applause
the ballerina bows as if being watched
and starts to dance and prance,
she twirls and swirls,
and does a fouette and then a jeté,
around the room.
she danced all night, until the time strikes again,
it is 5 am
she is breathless but alive
and she smiles at last
and back she goes to her little glass box.
