The Beauty of the Day

Australian animals begin the day,

as the night fades away.

The baby blue sky reflects,

on our great Southern land.

The soft green grass caresses my toes,                     as I walk on mother earth's glorious land.

I see the colourful vegetation grow,

the yellow glowing wattle brush, 

waving in the cool smooth air.

I smell the eucalyptus aroma, 

dancing in the wind.

I watch birds flutter above,

as I lie on the smooth, green glowing grass.

The night comes fast – in a blink of an eye,

soon, all the day animals rest,

and the night animals roam.

I see the shadows in the darkening sky, 

and the blanket of shimmering stars, 

as I fall to dreamland, grateful for this day.
