The bushfire

Fuzzy hair gets melted off by the beating power of the flames around me
My mother got taken by some people in a white van
They didn't see me, stuck under a heavy piece of bark, with my paws grazed
the other koalas fled, but mum and I stayed
alone, all alone
I hear the loud crackling of the gum leaves popping and bursting
a tree tumbles to the ground, but just misses me
a branch then falls on top of my foot
it burns
blood streams behind me as I limp towards some bark
my lungs get heavy with smoke
fire stabs me, I die
I sit there, crying
alone, all alone
as I open my eyes, I'm on a silky smooth bed with bandages wrapped around me 
They take care of me for a while
Then I go to a new home
no friends, family, or mum   
alone, all alone
