The Cheetah and the Deer

The Cheetah’s dashing through the wind,

chasing the deer to win the race.  

The deer takes a left at the bend

 and quickly finds his pace.

The spotted Cheetah mightily pounces 

but stumbles over a stick.

The deer quickly sidesteps into a bush

to play a cheeky trick.  

The cheetah is in hot pursuit

 but slips in mud which slows him down

his beautiful soft spotted coat

 is now all sticky and brown.

The snap of a twig is heard from the bush

 in the blink of an eye the cheetah leaps

But it’s just zebra having a nap.

He yawns and mumbles as he sleeps.

The clever deer watches from behind a tree

 and sees that the cheetah is done.

He grins to himself as he creeps away

knowing again that he’s won.
