Climb on dear friend, reach for that hold,
Move past the signs of failing strength.
Now grip tight that cutting fold-
One move up the rocky length.
Tight clutching firm and breathing hard,
One step closer to the end,
Your mind set firm on pulling through.
Drive on, drive on my dearest friend,
Ignore the pain of fingers scarred,
Sweat falling onto rock hard – drip, drip.
Reaching into the bag for a better grip ,
Being weary of the fact that falling is possible,
Pulling and pushing to reach the top
Before your energy reaches a stop.
Finally a rocky outcrop,
Rest at last.
I will finish this task,
The last rock I have to crawl
But then I fall.
