The gold coin, as cold as ice glows in the morning sun.
It was earned by an Olympian When their event was won.

The gold circle is a jewel
That sparkles in the light.
The light reflects off its shiny surface as the light beams take flight.

The cylinder of gold, passed down through generations
Is as old as an old oak tree.
And if you flick it through the air it’s like a golden bird flying free.

The coin is very, very well kept so it shines like a polished shield.
It’s valuable, like a crown it makes me proud to yield.

The coin is larger than a normal coin so it feels like it weighs a tonne.
But it’s worth it, for it’s an Olympic coin and the Olympics are always fun.

It was kept in a box in the attic so it was as dusty as an old mat.
It was all just all alone like an animal that needs a pat.

It originated in Los Angeles and it has travelled a number of miles.
And now it’s happy with other coins so everyone has smiles
