The country, it’s a different place
Filled with silence and grace,
It’s the opposite to the city
It’s a different place.

When I first came to Perth
I thought it would be the best place on earth.
But then I noticed with a frown on my face,
It’s a different place.

Bush land far and wide
But in the city, there’s nowhere to hide.
I tried to wipe that frown off my face,
but it’s a different place

I missed my family all the time
But they just told me it was a hill I had to climb.
I wanted out and at a quick pace
Because it’s a different place.

One night I forced myself to talk to the boarding master,
He made me feel like one of my scars had been covered up with a plaster.
I was getting better at a fast pace
But it’s still a different place.

Boarding is part of my life now,
And I still miss my family and my pet cow
But now I miss them with a smile on my face
And it’s still a different place.

I’m in the city now and that’s how its going to be for a while,
But I wouldn’t miss it for a country mile,
And that’s because the country…
Is a different place.
