The Cycle

Leaves lay limp on the dusty grey ground,
water swirling round and round.
Kids are laughing here and there,
splashing, playing, a swimming fair.
Leaves like paper float to the ground,
Elders dreaming whispers around.
Ripples on the water, memories flowing by
Water’s gifts, quenching everlasting life
Dreams journey and cascade
A special place of family, fun and love.
Glossy Black Cockatoos flying overhead,
Macadamia trees stump in their bed.
Grey clouds turn, get closer and closer.
Fingertips of rain tap the earth.
Trees whisper goodbye,
Animals burrow in their homes.
Until... The sun smiles on to the globe
Creatures stroll the land.
And the water slumbers again.
The cycle starts again.
