The desert night

I watch the flames rise high,
I can feel the pain sink into my skin,
My lips dry from the heat,
The sparks flicker gently onto my feet.
I look up to the night sky,
The stars are dancing,
And the trees sway,
I can hear the owls call to their mates.
I lie down on the burnt grass
And let the flames put me to sleep.
